This past Friday, November 15th, ILA visited the Portland Art Museum. The children viewed a variety of works; these included part of the current Samurai exhibition, and artifacts from ancient Chinese tombs.
They were also given a tour of sculptures coming from various eras and cultures, and made from a wide array of materials, including wood, marble, bronze, and iron. Some of the newest pieces were made entirely from zippers and vinyl!
The children asked many good questions and had interesting perspectives on what they were seeing. The trip concluded with a brown bag lunch in the student cafeteria of Portland State University.
