Bonjour to the friends and families of ILA’s learning community! We thought that a quarterly newsletter from the International Leadership Academy would be a great way to share the offerings and successes of our school, and to highlight the talents at work with us. Please feel free to share this newsletter with anyone who might be interested in visiting our school and learning more about us!
Looking back to the month of March, ILA held its first auction fundraiser, Le Bal Masque, at the Mountain Park Community Center to raise funds for a computer lab at the school. While everyone mingled, shared dinner, perused the plethora of fine and fun auction items, and danced to Dixieland jazz, a memorable evening was born. Although modest in returns, we succeeded in securing enough funds to purchase four or five Macbooks, the beginnings of reinforcing our dedication to technology education for our students.
Looking forward to this beautiful spring that has bloomed before us, our beginning adult French class starts today, among other course offerings during afterschool hours, such as the popular fashion class. Our summer camps are also now posted on the website, with lots of variety and hands-on learning in French, from theatre to African dance to soccer. There’s still time to sign up!
This week, an employee from the Office of Sustainability will be coming to talk to the kids about recycling, taking care of the earth.
In conjunction with this visit, we are starting an art project ( Recup’ art) using things usually found in the recycling bins like, eggs cartons, metal cans, jars, cardboard, plastic containers the usual things that you would recycle.
We hope that you are as excited about our learning community as we are, and will want to share with others who might be interested in the education with global perspectives that we provide.
