This past Wednesday, November 21st, was Grandparent’s Day at ILA, a day in which the children’s grandparents– and other close relatives and friends–were welcomed to the school to learn a bit more about their students’ educational experiences. We were all delighted at the many guests in attendance (the children were especially excited!).
With Monsieur Marc’s assistance, the students had prepared a musical presentation in honor of their guests. The show began with the Maternelle–the preschool through kindergarten students– performing a choreographed piece about seeds growing into flowers, and then being menaced by a storm (which included “Pluie, Pluie, Va-t-en,” the French version of “Rain, Rain, Go Away”). After that, all ILA students participated in a jazzy, improvisational warm-up exercise with M. Marc, followed by “Ma Poupée S’endort,” “Belle Lune Belle,” and “La Boite a Musique.” The Elementary School students then wrapped up the program with the catchy, precise rhythmes of “Tic Tac” and “La Poule a Pékin.”
Afterwards, the students entertains their guests in the Fellowship Hall, where refreshments were served.
Thank you to everyone who participated for making this such a special day. Extra thanks are due to Sheila McKinnis, Riversun Keller’s grandmother, who, with her catering partner, did such a great job of decorating and preparing the Fellowship Hall, as well as providing and presenting the refreshments.
