Lara Jones of Southwest Portland Martial Arts has an amazing program that she is bringing to ILAJoin us for an action-packed martial arts class!! Led by an experienced instructor, this class introduces children to the fundamentals of martial arts while emphasizing key values such as respect, discipline, and honor. Students will build confidence, improve coordination, and have fun in a supportive and structured environment. No prior experience needed—just a positive attitude and a willingness to learn!

There will be two 30-minute sessions for two different age groups. The younger group will be 3:30-4:00 pm. The older group will be 4:00-4:30.

Feel the rhythm and join the beat! In this high-energy drumming class, students will explore the vibrant rhythms and traditions of West African drumming. Using authentic instruments, they’ll learn basic techniques, group coordination, and cultural stories behind the music. It’s a joyful, hands-on experience that builds listening skills, confidence, and a love for music, one beat at a time!

Our very own English teacher, Teacher Scott, is continuing his guitar class. Scott has always had a passion for music. Scott often brings his guitar to his English at ILA to play and sing songs with the students. This class will offer an exciting and fun way to learn the guitar.

Parents will be responsible for renting or buying their own guitar, however Scott and myself will be available to help with any questions regarding sizes, strings, and brands. When you do purchase or rent a guitar it is highly recommended that it has nylon strings. Nylon strings are easier to manipulate by younger musicians. There are many great options on Amazon.
